Frequently Asked Questions
Do I need an account to use OpenStageCall?
No. You can browse events, watch live shows, and even sign up to perform as a guest (name-only, verified by your location at the venue) without creating an account. An account unlocks advance signup, saved Acts, following, voting, and event creation.
Is OpenStageCall free?
Yes, using the platform to find events, sign up to perform, and follow acts is free.
Why don't I see a "Create Event" option?
Creating events requires the Event Organizer role on your profile. Go to your Profile page, add "Event Organizer" under your roles, and save — the option will appear right away, no waiting required.
Why can't I sign up as a guest for this event?
Guest signup needs two things: the event must have a real, mapped venue (picked from the Google location suggestions when it was created), and you need to allow your browser to share your location so we can confirm you're within 500 yards of the venue. If either is missing, guest signup won't be available, but signing in and signing up with an account still works.
Why can't I request to jam with a performer?
Two requirements: the performer needs to have turned on "Accept Jam Requests" for their signup, and your own profile needs the Musician role with at least one instrument listed. Add an instrument from your Profile page if you're missing that step.
How is the performance order decided?
It depends on how the host set up the event: either by community vote (Vote Ranking) or by signup order (First-Come, First-Served). Every event page shows which method is in use.
I found a bug or have feedback — who do I contact?
Use the Feedback link in the site footer to send a message directly to the team. Include as much detail as you can — what you were doing, what you expected, and what happened instead — and we'll follow up.
