Voting, Following, and Jam Requests
Beyond signing up to perform, OpenStageCall has a few ways audiences and fellow musicians can engage with the acts they like.
Voting
There are two levels of voting. On an Act's own page, you can cast a global vote for that act once per day — this contributes to the act's overall vote total. During a specific event that uses Vote Ranking signups, you can also vote for performers in that show's lineup, which affects their slot order for that event. Both are limited to one vote per person (or per anonymous visitor) per day, to keep things fair.
Following
You can follow both Acts and individual users. Following an act sends its owner a notification and adds you to their follower count, and is a simple way to keep track of performers you want to see again. You can manage everyone you follow from your profile.
Jam Requests
Some performers open their set up to other musicians by enabling "Accept Jam Requests" when they sign up for a show. If you want to request to sit in, you'll need the Musician role and at least one instrument listed on your profile — that's how the platform knows what you play and can show it to the performer you're asking to jam with. The performer can approve or deny each request, and you'll get a notification either way.
Song Requests
For music acts that have listed original songs or covers, fans can request a specific song be played during the show. The performer sees these requests attached to their event signup and can plan their set accordingly.
